Solve multistep real-life and mathematical problems posed with positive and negative rational numbers in any form (whole numbers, fractions, and decimals), using tools strategically. Apply properties of operations to calculate with numbers in any form, convert between forms as appropriate, and assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies.
Examples:
If a woman making $25 and hour gets a 10% raise, she will make and additional 1/10 of her salary an hour, or $2.50, for a new salary of $27.50.
If you want to place a towel bar 9 3/4 inches long in the center of a door that is 27 1/2 inches wide, you will need to place the bar about 9 inches from each edge: this estimate can be used as a check on the exact computation.

Seventh Grade
1 - Demonstrate computational fluency with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers.
2 - Use order of operations to evaluate numerical expressions.
3 - Solve problems requiring the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division on rational numbers.
3.2 - Determining the reasonableness of the answer to a problem.
3.3 - Using percents to solve problems, including problems involving discounts, taxes, commissions, and simple interest.
7.EE.1-4 - Expressions and Equations Short Tasks - http://www.map.mathshell.org/materials/tasks.php?taskid=399&subpage=novice - (Task) Students will look at several short tasks or warm-up type problems dealing with basic expressions and equations. These problems vary from expressions and equations using basic operation skills to those using evaluation and analysis.
